Peer-to-peer lending and financial innovation in the United Kingdom

Written by David Bholat on Tuesday, 27 September 2016.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) lending — direct lending between lenders and borrowers online outside traditional financial intermediaries like banks — first emerged in the United Kingdom and the world with the launch of Zopa in 2005. This puts off many bright academic candidates, reserving master's degrees for the small percent who can afford it. StudentFunder aims to change this with its innovative P2P platform, encouraging people to help bright people achieve their academic goals.
