Istanbul/Mauritius Press release, Dec 3, 2013: Spectrum Medya, the largest radio broadcasting group in Turkey, and Virgin Radio International, the radio broadcasting arm of Virgin Group, today announce a multi‐year exclusive agreement to jointly operate Virgin Radio Turkiye on FM and digital platforms throughout Turkey.
As part of the agreement, Virgin Radio Turkiye will move to its new home in Istanbul on 106.2 FM
starting 3 December, followed by launches in Ankara on 93.9 FM
and in Izmir on 103.1 FM
, starting 1 January 2014. Virgin Radio Turkiye will also be available on the largest internet radio platform in the country, Karnaval.com
, as well as via Digiturk, Turksat and Eutelsat.
The new Virgin Radio Turkiye will have a new music format — Modern Adult Contemporary — consistent with its upscale, urban target audience of 25-44 year olds in Turkey's largest metropolitan suburbs. One in two Turks are aware of the Virgin brand and associate it strongly with music in general and radio in particular.
The new Virgin Radio Turkiye will feature music from emerging, popular and classic artists including: Pink, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Bruno Mars.
