Central European trade missions head to UK
Central European startups are visiting the United Kingdom to build strategic business partnerships and strengthen commercial ties under the Ready to Go programme. Led by Australian-born Michael Jacobsen, these trade missions are designed to build a two-way traffic relationship beneficial to all parties involved. These early stage companies from a wide range of sectors hope to identify potential UK partners and expand their distribution reach, the core value proposition of Ecosystem Economics.
Michael Jacobsen’s entrepreneurial passion and knowledge of the Central European market is the driving force behind the trade missions.
I have been working with the various government economic development teams in the Central European countries for some years, and the time is right to change the focus from just in-country activity to reach out via a series of intensive trade missions to the UK to foster trade and investment.
Who is taking part?
The Ready to Go Programme has welcomed a set of high-growth companies curated by Government agencies of Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia:
- Biotrem manufactures disposable tableware made from under-utilized by-product of milling – wheat bran.
- Callpage is a widget enabling companies to get in touch with potential customers visiting their page.
- Exon builds devices in the field of Smart Control Technology and Internet of Things platforms.
- Kolomnie is a geolocation app using big data to aggregate local businesses contact details and information.
- The Voice finds simple ways to engage citizens in local or national debates that affect them.
These companies are in the UK to take part in pre-arranged pitching events and investors meetings.
Amit Pau, Managing Director of Ariadne Capital, took part in the Ready to Go pilot Programme earlier this year in March. He explains why Ariadne Capital supports Michael Jacobsen’s trade missions in the UK.
We are impressed by the calibre of entrepreneurs with respect to their vision and their commercial traction. It clearly demonstrates that these Central European entrepreneurs have businesses that are very attractive to investors.
Michael Jacobsen endeavours to make his Ready to Go Programme a regular fixture in the UK business calendar by enabling high-growth Central European startups to develop partnerships.
