Bugsense: how David met Goliath

EntrepreneurCountry Global Monday, 02 June 2014.

Startups all over Europe are full of intrepid entrepreneurs who are keen to make their mark on the business world. As they grow and develop their companies, many of these Davids have aspirations to attract the attentions of a Goliath who will take them to the next level. Bugsense, a crash reporter for mobile phones, has done just that.

Startups all over Europe are full of intrepid entrepreneurs who are keen to make their mark on the business world. As they grow and develop their companies, many of these Davids have aspirations to attract the attentions of a Goliath who will take them to the next level. Bugsense, a crash reporter for mobile phones, has done just that.

bugsenseFounded in 2011 by Giannis Vlachogiannis and Panayiotis Papadopoulos, the Athens-based company uses Big Data analytics to measure mobile app performance, quality and usage in real-time. Less than three years later and Bugsense has been snapped up by the multi-national operational intelligence developer, Splunk.

Impressively, Bugsense has quickly developed an enviable client list, including well-known names like Soundcloud, Yahoo and Skype. Couple that with their deep focus on mobile technology (Android, iOS and Windows Phone are all supported) and it's easy to see why the acquisition made sense for both parties.

Bosses at the San Francisco-based Splunk have long been admirers of Bugsense's mobile expertise. The deal with this young pioneering David provides them with the perfect opportunity to build new and unrivalled capabilities, allowing them to disrupt the market in a way that only a startup knows how.
